Rippey Fun Day Saturday, July 26

There will be plenty of fun in Rippey during the annual Rippey Fun Day Saturday, July 26.

The Rippey Fun Day parade will start lining up at 10:30 am at the former school/fire station. The parade will step off at 11 am, with the route being east on 290th St, south on Third St, west of Lovejoy St, north on First St and then back to the fire station.

There is no charge for parade entries. Persons who want more information can contact Chelsi Lawrence at 515-230-8246.

A craft and vendor show will open at 11 am on the north side of Walt Anderson baseball field. No chairs, tables, or electricity will be provided. There is a $20 fee for a 10- X 10’ space. Checks should be mailed to Friends of Rippy, PO Box 52, Rippey, IA  50235.

The craft and vendor show is an outdoor event and will take place rain or shine.

Food trucks, Thirsty Pigs Beer, and the Greene County Cattlemen will open at 12 pm.

Yard games, a petting zoo, Little Loo’s tattoos and face painting will be available from 12 to 3. Also, PAWS will hold a pet adoption event at noon. A bounce house will be inflated from 12 to 5 pm.

The Rippey Redneck bags tournament will also be held north of the baseball field. Registration is from 12:30 to 1:30 pm, with play starting at 2. Players may bring their own bags; some will be available.

Format for the tournament will be best two of three, double elimination. There is a $40 registration fee per each two-player team. Cash payouts to the top three places, with total payout being 80 percent of the take. Call Cindy or Cal Linnenkamp at 515-371-6410 for information.

The Rippey Car Show will be from 1 to 4 pm, also at Walt Anderson Field, with registration starting at noon. Cars, trucks, tractors, semis, and motorcycles are welcome. Door prizes and trophies will be awarded, as well as trophies. Call Lawrence or email her at chelsilawrence08@gmail.com for more information.

All hoops players 14 and older are invited to play in a 3-on-3 basketball tournament starting at 5:30 pm on the basketball court north of Walt Anderson Field. A maximum of six 4-person teams will be accepted with a single elimination format. There is a $30 per team entry fee; Venmo to Chelsi Lawrence@FriendsofRippey. Teams should email Lawrence at the above address to register. The tournament will be held weather permitting; registration fees are non-refundable.

Pickleball players will start their tournament at 6 pm, also north of the baseball field. There is a $25 entry fee per team. Venmo to Chelsi Lawrence @ FriendsofRippey.

Supper will be available at the United Methodist Church from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.

The day will finish with baseball at 7:30 pm and then fireworks at 9:30. All are welcome.
